About Phi Phi island

All about Phi Phi Island

Even though Phi Phi is a small island there is a lot to know about the holiday destination to make a trip a success. The island caters for a great variation of types of people nationalities, and interest so this small blog is here to get you acquainted with what you you should know. Of course, as this is a cheap hotel or guesthouse blog I will endeavour to point out what, where and when is great value on Phi Phi.

A sense of the size of  Phi Phi Island

Well, the island is not very big by conventional holiday destination so you might be surprised to know that the main village is no bigger than a very small town just 500 meters across. The island has only 3000 rooms to let out a night. Even though the Phi Phi Don is 6 km from South to North 30% are extraordinary mountain cliffs and 50%, a more gently but no less impressive series of mountains that are covered with jungle, cashew nut and coconut plantations. It is so small that one of the main features Phi Phi has no cars. This gives a great sense of getting away from it all... it's all on foot or by boat.

The best about Phi Phi Island

The simple first step is to direct you to all things beachy or water based. Phi Phi has these features in spades, as they say, and is the veritable island paradise. Even the beaches around the the main village are stunning examples of nature. Coconut covered, and having that beautiful texture of golden sand, the beaches are a wonderful place to unwind and let the stresses of normal life evaporate.

The sea is a balmy 29 degrees all year round, which means you can play for as long as it takes your fancy. For those more inclined for a bit of adventure, the draw of the coral reefs are irresistible. The snorkeling tours take you round some of the finest marine parks in Thailand where you can get close to the best of the underwater world.

The best time to go to Phi Phi Island

There are 2 main seasons on Phi Phi but the weather does vary considerably within each season and with it the prices of the accommodation. (The prices for food, snorkeling, diving equipment rental do not change through the year.)

About the Phi Phi hotels and resorts again... There are 3 seasons for prices of Phi Phi Accommodation.. the high season, the peak season (Christmas and New Year) and low season. Phi Phi hotels and resort prices  are 30-50% higher in high season than in low season. Peak season accommodation prices are another 30% higher again. This mean a trip to Phi Phi before 20 December or after 20th January will save you about 30%.

One further aspect of low season hotels and resorts accommodation is that there is always good weather from about 7th July till 20 August as the monsoon moves up towards the Himalaya (which is 2500km away). If the timing is right, this is the sweet spot for staying on Phi Phi.

Popular hotels and resorts. High end; Zeavola.... Middle; Andaman Beach Resort..... Budget; Phi Phi The Hill (High Season only) All Year... Tropical Garden Bungalows.
